Fate is an intriguing idea; it is foreordained at this point ordinarily it can't be demonstrated or anticipated. Notwithstanding, different utilizations of destiny can be anticipated. One such thought that applies this feeling of destiny is The Bell Curve. The contention of The Bell Curve recommends that relying on the race of an individual they are inclined to having either a lower than normal or higher than normal Intelligence Quotient otherwise called I.Q. This Intelligence Quotient demonstrates an individual's psychological capacities comparative with others of the equivalent or diverse ethnicity and comparative age gathering. In America today, you are greatly improved off knowing a kid's I.Q. score than her folks' pay or training in the event that you need to anticipate whether she will drop out of secondary school. as indicated by Race, Genes and I.Q, an Apologia article. The idea that I.Q. scores are influenced by race and ethnicity is profoundly upheld. Be that as it may, ethnic contrasts in estimated psychological capacity have been found since insight tests were created. The fight over the significance of these distinctions is to a great extent answerable for the present debate over knowledge testing itself. (Herrnstein and Murray, 1994) The proposal that race and ethnicity decides I.Q scores profoundly challenged all through the science network. There are innumerable online web journals, banter meetings, and powerful works that have handled this subject head on. They restrict The Bell Curve because of its supremacist roots and counter those convictions with their own hypothesis of how I.Q. is created. Poverty in the U.S Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Destitution in the U.S - Research Paper Example Above all else, let us see how destitution has ascended in the U.S. what's more, how it influences poor people. Seccombe (384-393) affirms that neediness can be characterized as having a deficient salary that can make a family stay ââ¬Å"below the destitution lineâ⬠. In the United States, destitution is solidly characterized in dollar figures by the Social Security Administration. By deciding the measure of cash expected to make due on nourishment, and afterward duplicating that number by three, the Social Security Administration sets the destitution line. For instance, if the SSA concluded that the measure of cash expected to continue a survivable eating routine during a year was $4,000, at that point it would set the destitution line at $12,000. Consequently, any people whose salary was not as much as this sum for a year would be viewed as living in neediness. As indicated by Flik and Praag (311-330), neediness line is fundamental for figuring out who gets government assistan ce benefits in U.S. Destitution doesn't appear to be an equally appropriated social issue. In America, African Americans and Latinos have, by a long shot, the biggest neediness rate. Numerous variables, for example, poor wages for ladies and the expansion of single-lady parented families have caused an expansion in the level of ladies among poor people. old, in any case, fill an a lot littler rate as they get benefits as government disability. Macionis (216) inferred that in 2003, the administration arranged 12.5 percent of the U.S. populace as poor, which makes 35.9 million of men, ladies and kids. Research recommends that the home condition adds to neediness on the grounds that most homes that look in deterioration imply that the family living inside probably won't have the salary to fix things. At the point when a family is in the neediness zone they feel awful and deficient, which can make them reluctant to request help (Brooks-Gunn and Duncan). This can be destructive to kids s ince they don't have a state when the grown-ups need assistance. Destitution is a cruel and merciless path for youngsters to live. It shows in physical, passionate and social ways. Devastated kids have social, enthusiastic and conduct issues because of unexpected weakness and genuine emotional well-being issues coming from the determined neediness level in which they live. Genuine medical issues accompany destitution, for example, preventable ailments like Influenza, Measles, ailing health and AIDS because of absence of appropriate medicinal services. Open help offered in many states doesn't cover all that the poor youngsters need to carry on with an ordinary way of life. Presently, we depict how destitution is gainful for the rich of the general public in spite of its negative results identified with poor people. As per the humanist, Herbert Gans (20-24), occupations and callings like criminology, social work, news coverage, and general wellbeing exist with the assistance of presen ce of destitution. Gans has recorded complex elements of neediness that are valuable to the rich of the general public. The grimy work in the general public completes the assistance of the poor who work at low wages and disgusting compensations. The poor assistance in financing the economy since they cover charges, purchase modest items and go for minimal effort benefits that are simply overlooked by the well off network. The presence of neediness goes about as an assurance for the rich peopleââ¬â¢s status, supposing that there would be no poor, there would be no recognizable proof left for the rich. The rich individuals offer foundation to poor people

Analysis Of Cancion Protest Protest Songs Of Latin America
Ethnographic CD Review: Cancion Protesta During the 20th century, Cuba was economically weakened and civilians began protesting the governments corruption. Once Fidel Castroââ¬â¢s Communist intentions came to light, many residents fled the country, only to find out that they would no longer be allowed back in the country regardless of their origin, in consequence for betraying Castro. Protests rose during this time and musicians began using their talents to voice their opinions. The CD I will be focusing on is Cancion Protesta: Protest Songs of Latin America, produced by Barbara Dane. The production of this CD, which was focused on the historic protests, began in 1927 and it was published by Paredon Records in 1970. The CDââ¬â¢s field of interestâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It sounds like a poet is expressing himself to a crowd, which you can hear in the background with noises of laughter or agreement to the poetââ¬â¢s words. At 20:21 minutes in the CD the crowd starts cla pping in awe of the poem and the track ends. Hasta Siempre, Comandante (Song for Che Guevara) is track six on the CD, it starts off with a slow tempo and soft voices in the background, almost as if you were outside, around a group of older men. It then accelerates to a type of tone that hints off a sad scenario in the lyrics. You can hear a membranophone in the background alongside a chordophone. The song La OEA, Me Causa Risa (The OAS Makes Me Laugh) has the vocalists literally laugh to the beat which sounds happy and up-beat. I hear an idiophone and a chordophone. At the end of the song the men laugh outside of the tempo and in a way that frightens a little bit. The song on track eight is named Coplas del Pajarito (The Little Birdââ¬â¢s Complaint), and it starts of by gradually speeding up the tempo. You can hear the song speed up between each stroke made on the chordophone being used. The singer sounds nasally with a quick vibrato in his voice at the end of certain words. The song Porque los Pobres no Tienen (Because the Poor Have Nothing) there is a woman singing with a warm voice along to a slow tempo. There is thump in the background, which means there is an idiophone being used alongside a guitar. The song Me Gustan los Estudiantes (I Love the Students) has a very clear

Pick Up A Book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
If the world were perfect, the average Joe would read voraciously- in his free time, waiting for the light rail, while riding shotgun in the car or even in the tub. Unfortunately, this isnââ¬â¢t the case. People are changing the way they spend their free time. They are trading their books for the television and Wi-Fi. Every day the amount of time spent reading is decreased and people are spending all of their free time on their electronics. You should read because itââ¬â¢s one of lifeââ¬â¢s leisureââ¬â¢s that can improve your knowledge, make you a better person, and expand your imagination. If youââ¬â¢ve ever dreamed of an abundance of knowledge, look no further because reading can grant you a life full of knowledge. A handful of my closest girlfriends wouldnââ¬â¢t be caught dead with a publication other than Cosmopolitan. They have great personalities and are overall great people but, none of them are the type of smart that could pull off a bank robbery. The lack of reading can influence this assumption. With this anecdotal evidence, I can conclude that I can bump into a group of women and figure out within minutes which set of ladies picks up a paperback instead of a magazine before bed. Not only does reading improve your knowledge, but it lets you in on the joke. I can state numerous situations where someone has quoted a novel I havenââ¬â¢t read and I stood there dumbfounded. Business Communication Elsevier Health Sciences
Question: Describe about the Business Communication for Elsevier Health Sciences. Answer: Introduction The importance of staff training in an organization cannot be overstated. In a highly competitive market, it is absolutely important for any organization to keep on enhancing the professional skills of its employees, so as to improve the efficiency, productivity as well as the morale of the employees. Fatnemup Pty Ltd, is one of the emerging organizations of Australia, dealing with the production of the infant formula. It has been observed that there is a large need of improving the quality of the service rendered by the employees of the organization. Hence, to help the organization sustain in a competitive market, the staff training has become a crucial factor. It has been observed that the way the employees of Fatnemup Pty Ltd interact and even execute their tasks, it is not well-aligned with the strategy of the organization. Hence, for the purpose of the organizational development, the organization is required to adopt the implementation of the staff training methods (Elnaga Imra n, 2013). Discussion Staff training can be provided over a variety of fields, and each one is crucially important for the growth of an organization. However, it is to be remembered that Fatnemup Pty Ltd is an emerging organization, and hence it does not have the sufficient budget to finance the staffs in every field, and so the organization is required to choose discreetly two areas, that deserve the greatest attention (Anitha, 2014). Findings on the Two Fields that Require Training The competence in oral communication plays an important role in any organization, as it is only with the help of communication, does a person exchange his ideas or explain his perspectives clearly. Assertive style of communication plays an integral role in an organization, when the employees are to deal with the colleagues, or the subordinates. It becomes even more important when the employees are required to interact with the consumers, as a single instance of aggressive remark, or indifferent attitude towards the consumer, can lead to the loss of a consumer (Nielsen Randall, 2012). Hence, the development of communication skills is highly important. However, the employees responsible for rendering consumer service at Fatnemup Pty Ltd are unable to communicate effectively with the employees, and thereby solve their queries or doubts. It has been noted that a few consumers have expressed their dissatisfaction over the ineffectiveness of communication skills possessed by the employees of Fatnemup Pty Ltd, and hence the organization must offer training that will help the employees enhance their communication skills (Arnold Boggs, 2015). Team work is important for any organization, as it helps in promoting a sense of unity, reliability and bond among the members of the organization. Each employee must be well-aware of the mission of the organization, as well as the strategy needed to be adopted for the accomplishment of the same. However, it has been noted that the employees at Fatnemup Pty Ltd lack the bond to interact with each other. Further, a few employees were also reported to be driven by selfish motives and interests, whereby they refuse to approach a problem in an integrated way. Hence, training programs have to be introduced for training the employees to build social skills, and thereby create a sense of unity (Tee et al., 2013). Justification for choosing the two areas There is no gain stating the fact that sloppy and ineffective style of communication leaves a very negative impression in the minds of the consumers. The consumer service of Fatnemup Pty Ltd is meant to satisfy the doubts or the queries of the consumers. However, it has been observed that the employees are unable to understand the needs of the consumers, and offer a prompt reply while responding to the same. Further, a few consumers have even complained that the customer service executives are unable to handle the negative feedback of the consumers. However, communication paves the way for building a stronger relation between the consumers and the organization, and is a means of increasing the sales of the organization. Further, the listening skills are also required in the process of communication, and it is even all the more important while interacting with a consumer, who wants his message to be reached out to the other end. Hence, enhancing and nurturing the communication skills of the employees is absolutely imperative. The employees require to be trained so as to make them aware of the negative consequence of the Passive Aggressive style of communication, and the importance of employing positive language, and polite behavior while interacting with the consumers (lawlor et al., 2014). Great teamwork helps in not only bringing organizational success, but also fetches personal satisfaction to the employees, by creating impressive work culture. This is the reason as to why, even large organizations such as Google and Microsoft are taking up steps to ensure that they just do not create teams, but create supportive teamwork. Peter Drucker, in his book, Management: Tasks, Responsibilities, and Practices, claims that great teamwork and internal bonding among the members of the organization, helps in better reception of new ideas, and newer ways of executing tasks (Barach Cosman, 2015). The team members of the present organization do not share a good relation, and as such some of them are too pre-occupied with their selfish, mischievous acts that are largely harming the output of the organization Further, the team leaders in a few teams are inefficient, either too arrogant to persuade the employees, or too submissive to be seriously taken by the subordinates. Hence, Druc ker maintains that the team leader must get everyone to pull together, communicate the daily goals of each day and finally motivate the employees to accomplish the same (Drew Thomas, 2013). Method of implementation and Recommendations Fatnemup Pty Ltd will have to introduce training programs that will help in developing the communication skills of the employees. Each of the employees should be trained to adopt the right kind of communication style that is Assertive style of communication in most of the cases. The organization should arrange seminars and workshops that can help in improving the communication skills (Bergener et al., 2013). The participation in the training programs must be made mandatory for each of the employees of the organization. It has been observed that incentive and appraisal can help in a considerable way, in improving the efficiency of the employees. Hence, Fatnemup Pty Ltd should announce an appraisal program, whereby the customer service executive with the most effective communication skills will be rewarded with additional incentives. However, the employee with the best communication skill will not be chosen by the organization, but his selection will be done based on the reviews of the consumers. While providing training to the employees, the employees should be trained with special attention to the importance of developing listening skills, and employing positive attitude, while interacting with a consumer (Hamstra et al., 2014). A robust work culture is only possible by nurturing the individual as well as the team spirit. Each team can perform well if the team leader is capable of articulating and explaining the importance of the daily goals, and aligning the same with the strategy of the organization. First of all, the team leader of each team must be trained in interpersonal communication skills that will help him in explaining the shared benefits of each task, as well as for motivating the employees (Salas Rosen, 2013). Apart from the training sessions, the organization is required to arrange multiple workshops that will help in group interaction. Those employees, who lack proper social skills, will get the opportunity of interacting with the team members. Such workshops emphasize group activities, which apart from being fun and interesting, also helps in creating team unity. Besides, Fatnemup Pty Ltd should arrange dinner parties, outings and other programs more often, so that the new team members get t o interact with the senior ones, while the team members succeed in understanding his subordinates in a better way. In addition, the senior employees of the organization should be asked to provide a weekly lecture on how the team leaders must learn to trust the team members, or how motivation or valuing the contribution of each player, plays an important role in increasing employee productivity and efficiency. Further, it is also useful as it helps in employee retention. Money cannot motivate or inspire an employee, but true recognition can help (Tabassi et al., 2012). Conclusion The importance of training the employees cannot be overemphasized. Fatnemup Pty Ltd is an emerging organization, and hence it may dismiss the idea of spending an enormous amount of money for the purpose of training the employees. However, it should be remembered that training the staffs may prove expensive in the short run, however, it is going to be beneficial in the long run. Every large organization invests a huge amount of money for arranging staff training programs. Training the employees helps to save cost, time, money and materials, and it will not only help in increasing employee satisfaction but will also help Fatnemup Pty Ltd enjoy organizational success. Incorporating Kohlbergs Stages of Moral Development into the Justice Assignment
Incorporating Kohlbergs Stages of Moral Development into the Justice System - Assignment Example This enables people to live in peace and harmony. Criminal justice refers to the system of government institutions and practices that have been entrusted to maintain social control; deter crime and punish the individuals who deviate from the accepted principles of social justice. Law enforcement officers are part of the criminal justice. This means that they should uphold justice by following the accepted concepts and principles of fairness and moral uprightness (Dawson, 2002). Law enforcement officers are responsible for providing fair punishment and rehabilitation of individuals who violate the societal laws. This assists in deterring various forms of crime and maintaining peace within the society. They should ensure that there is justice by applying a level platform in all their practices, thus ensure equality and fairness. This prevents biases and restricts some individuals from deviating from the accepted principles. In todayââ¬â¢s society, few people have confidence in the criminal justice due to the inequality applied by the law enforcement officers when performing their duties. Law enforcement officers should perform their mandates effectively by protecting individual rights and rendering equal treatment to every individual in the society irrespective of their education, wealth, social status, race or income among other factors. Law enforcement officers should render justice by following the rule of the law. Corruption and other social ills stem from the fact that some law enforcement officers do not follow the rule of the law. They protect the criminal, therefore, promoting oppression among the innocent victims. Lastly, the law enforcement officers should ensure that they deliver services with compassion. This is in reference to the treatment of the people who have broken the law. They should be rehabilitated and punished accordingly, therefore, making them useful members of the society.

The Novels Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The Novels - Essay Example But The Underdogs was the one & only exception. The reader experiences Azuelaââ¬â¢s heartbeat & his emotional pathos while reading this mind boggling work of fiction. The novel is highly pragmatic as it depicts the misery of a war ravaged Mexico, while concentrating on the pivotal character of ââ¬ËDemetrio Maciasââ¬â¢. Azuela attempts to scrutinize the traits of the revolution as a magnamous social event & an unstoppable force which is so strong that it drags all the folks around it within its gravitational order-defining the actions of each of the characters. The novel as per its subtitle represents a chronology of ââ¬Ëpictures of the revolutionââ¬â¢ that displays its force & human qualities, as they shattered the age old static character of the Mexican social infrastructure. The dynamism & the influential idiosyncrasies of the lead character Demetrio motivated large numbers of dreamy individuals who pondered over the idea of an egalitarian social structure post revol ution (Azuela, 15-25). But unfortunately, all the dreams were not destined to become true. The aftermath of Mexican revolution was equally sordid. Gross disruptions, anarchy, & statelessness became the order of the day. Several novels were framed on the morbid atmosphere of the post revolutionary era, which contradicted the very ââ¬Ëidealistic approachââ¬â¢ of Azuela. Nevertheless, Underdogs can be estimated as a burning memento of the revolutionary history of Mexico (Azuela, 18-29). It can be easily concluded that Azuela was statistically the first Mexican novelist who grasped the ââ¬Ëreality of the revolutionââ¬â¢. The distinguishing characteristic of Underdogs is that reality & fiction comes together as an inseparable force to cast away the reader. The naturalistic fatalism in this novel remains as an intoxicating quotient. The protagonist Demetrio Macias is coerced into the revolution as a means of defending his own existence. He ends his life story where it began,

Case Study of McDonalds Essay Example for Free
Case Study of McDonalds Essay In the early 1940s, two brothers opened a burger restaurant that was based on standardized preparation called the Speedee Service System. This burger restaurant is now globally known as McDonalds. In 1976, McDonalds introduced the breakfast menu as a way to diversify sales and product selection. Today this multinational corporation serves nearly 54 million customers every day in 120 countries around the world. McDonalds first international venture was in Richmond, British Columbia, during 1967. Two of McDonalds main products were introduced in 1968, the Big Mac and the Egg McMuffin Sandwich. When the first McDonalds opened in Hong Kong in 1975, they were the first restaurants to consistently offer clean bathrooms, which drove customers to demand the same standards of other restaurants and institutions. McDonalds continually builds its brand by receiving customer input. This is why McDonalds is known as one of the most recognizable brands in the world. This case study illustrates how McDonalds marketing process works and how they overcome problems in the process. This case analysis will include a SWOT analysis of McDonalds, which looks at the internal environment of strengths and weaknesses and the external environment of opportunities and threats. It then examines alternative solutions to correct weaknesses, threats, and opportunities and concludes with recommendations with exact steps and a brief conclusion. S.W.O.T. We will then discuss creative strategies to align their internal environment with their external environment and provide multiple alternatives and a recommendation. Internal AnalysisMcDonalds Corporation is a multimillion dollar global business because of the fact their strengths greatly outweigh their weaknesses. McDonalds has also managed to adapt their individual franchises to the current trends and concerns in their individual geographical locations, simultaneously cutting costs. i.For example: In Europe, McDonalds discovered that children were contentà with a simple word puzzle on a menu tray or a small stuffed animal and did not require more expensive Happy meal promotions that they used in the U.S. c.This year the worlds largest restaurant chain, with 31,000 locations, will spend $1.9 billion to open 800 restaurants and reinvest in existing locations. 3.The companys attention to global health concernsa.McDonalds menus offer a variety of food products that can fit into balanced, active lifestyles. These reflect a System-wide goal of ensuring that Happy Meals remain a choice moms feel good about andà children enjoy. 4.The Company has high environmental standards:a.Delivery Vehicles which can carry fresh, frozen and chilled food have resulted in fewer deliveries, enabling them to reduce diesel costs and fuel emissions. Also, fixed delivery schedules reduced the distance traveled in 1993 by 310,000 miles. b.Each McDonalds restaurant is carefully designed individually to fit into its local environment. This means listening to local concerns, fitting in with local scenery and landscaping drive-thru restaurants. Weaknesses1.Worker shortagea. In all employment areas, there is a high demand for qualified workers. b.A new development that is creating even more employee demand is the newà immigration laws for the country and state. 2.Employee turn-overa.It is difficult to keep the employees already employed with McDonalds. i. McDonalds has a turnover rate of about 35 to 40 percent. b.People consider working at McDonalds embarrassing and look for employment elsewhere. c.Minimum wage doesnt keep good workers around. i. $5.85 per hour beginning July 24, 2007ii.$6.55 per hour beginning July 24, 2008iii.$7.25 per hour beginning July 24, 20093.Customer trends change and so do their choicesa.Quality and taste of products is declining. b.People are generally tired of the same brands that they had been using over the years, so when they do not see the expected innovation they migrate to new brands. c.People see McDonalds every where and this over exposure might also be a reason for abstinence. Moreover maintaining the standards of such a huge chain becomes feasible and when there is lack of quality service in one store it effects the whole brand. External Analysis The constant improvements in technology and the competitive marketplace challenge McDonalds with many opportunities and threats. McDonalds has a great management team that constantly looks for new opportunities because McDonalds is the industry standard on technology. Other opportunities for McDonalds would be to expand to all developing and developed countries around the world. Among the current and future threats, there are thousands of fast-food chains in the world, most of the new fast-food franchises are concentrating on having a healthy image, so therefore McDonalds needs to continue to improveà their healthy choice menu. This will be presented in descending order of importance throughout the opportunities and threats. Opportunities1.New Technologiesa.Computers that are also tablesi. These computers that are also tables will be very handy because people do not like standing in lines and having to wait to order. Now all customers have to do is find a table and sit down and start ordering. This will pay off even more because customers will be able to special order their food easier which will in-turn reduce the mess up orders because customers will do it themselves. ii.These computer tables will also make it very easy for customers to pay for their food or even split the bill if they want to. All customers will have to do is lay their credit card or debit card down on the table and then pick what food you want to pay for and drag it over to where your card is laying and then click ok that is correct then use your finger to sign for the bill. 2.International Expansion and Franchisinga. There are only 17,000 McDonalds around the world and only located in 119 different countries. i.There are 194 countries in the world and McDonalds has lost of room to expand there restaurants to new countries. ii.McDonalds main concentration of expanding is in the ever growing in population of China. McDonalds wants to build as many drive thrus there as possible for the fast passed living. They have done research that there are 30,000 filling stations to put them in. b.Selling corporate owned McDonalds and turning them into franchises at home and abroad. i.Sold 18 businesses in Latin America and the Caribbeans. As a result these two countries will in turn franchise 1,600 restaurants. 3.New Food Items and New Programsa. Here in America we are accustomed to one of the programs that they are trying to add all over the world. This wouldà be known as the dollar menu. In Europe they are calling it the Eurosaver, China has the RMB 5, and Latin America features the McMenu. b.In Latin America they are experimenting with something called McAhorro. This is a program of special pricing of certain products during certain times of the day or on carious days of the week. c.In Egypt their McDonalds are trying something completely new to McDonalds and this is having a carryout. Other countries also doing this now are Turkey, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia. d.New food items that became popular in Latin America are the McCafe coffee and dessert concepts. Which are Expanding to other McDonalds in other countries to see how they fair. e.New Healthy Foodsi.Toasted deli sandwiches have now been put on a couple of McDonalds menus in Canadaii.McDonalds are starting to cook their French Fries in healthier oils and finding ways to cook their hamburgers to have less grease in them. iii.Mediterranean inspired Pitamac, a square pita bread sandwich that is open at the top and filled with spiced beef, grilled vegetables or chicken. iv.Introducing veggie burgers to more of their restaurants. v.Introducing water-based instead of oil-based salad dressings for their new premium salads. vi.Introducing healthier option with their meal instead of fries such as: salads, baked potatoes, yogurt, fruit, ect. Threats1.The biggest threat for McDonalds domestically is the lack of growth opportunitiesa. The market in the United States is well saturated and there is not a whole lot of room for growth. 2.Healthier eating habits. a.People are more worried about their health in todays society than they have ever been. McDonalds has introduced salads and other low fat items but it is hard for people to make the switch because the other food that McDonalds offers tastes great. 3.Fast food restaurant franchises as upcoming competition. a.The biggest competition would be taco and burrito franchises. This would be a threat because individuals get tired of eating hamburgers and fries and they want something different. b.McDonalds has the upper hand on most fast food restaurants because they serve breakfast. Recently Taco Bueno has added a breakfast menu and that could also be a threat for McDonalds. 4.Terrorisma.With McDonalds being a big retail food store with a lot of customers in the store daily. b.This could be a major threat not only to the store itself but to its customers also. 5.Global Competitiona.Through out the globe McDonalds is facing more and more competition because of other fast food chains entering the global markets. i.Burger King is the number two burger chain. It is located in over 65 countries now. In the US alone it has more then 11,200 locations. ii.Subway is the second largest quick serving restaurant. It has an astonishing 27,700 location abroad spanning over 85 countries. Another huge threat that this makes is that it now has more locations in the US than McDonalds. b.With global expansion McDonalds not only has to deal with other abroad competitors but the own countries fast food chains. McDonalds also has to get accustomed to the local eating habbits and taste so they will be able to satisfy their wants and needs. This means McDonalds will have to come up with new menu items for each country to fit their customs. i.Items that they have came up with to fit the taste and customs of consumers in Japan was to introduce the Mega Teriyaki Burger and the Triangle-shaped Mango Custard Pie. AlternativesAlternative 1- Technology UpdateImproving and Buying New Technology McDonalds has been improving many things at their restaurants in the past couple of years such as: remodeling, new menu items, and a drive-thru order speaker that shows you what you have ordered. McDonalds needs to make sure that they deep up with todays society and the new technology. One of the newest technology that McDonalds needs to consider purchasing is called Microsoft surface. This new technology well not only cut down on employee cost but it will help them keep up with the new way of life that time is money. ProsA. With Microsoft Surface computer tables in place it will make business quicker. i. People can sit down and order their food at the tablesii. There will be no waiting in lines which in turns saves people time. iii. Customers can pay at the end of their meals incase they want more food after their first order instead of going and standing in line again. B. Offer more things to do while waiting on your food and after you are done eating. i. Microsoft Surface also offers things to entertain your kids such as playing music to painting with their fingers. ii. Business people will find it handy because they can get on the internet and find thing they need or to get directions to their next destination and then can transfer it to their phones of PDAs. iii. Will older people like the new technology because it will be something new to them and will have to learn how to use it properly. ConsA. Microsoft Surface will be brand new technologyi. The cost of Microsoft Surface will have a very expensive price tag along with it. ii. Since it is a new product this means it will still have a few bugs in it that have not been found or worked out. B. How reliable with this new technology bei. Seeing how this is going to be used not only to order off of it will as be used as a table to eat and drink off of. Will the Surface be durable enough to handle messy food and drinks that will be spilled on it?Alternative 2- Improve Healthy menu OptionsMore Attention for Americas Healthy Menu Options- McDonalds has been successful in adding healthy menu options around the globe. However, throughout our study we have found that the healthy menu options for Americans are quite limited, and even more limited for the children in the United States. The PlanA.We feel that adding some healthy menu combination meals would really improve McDonalds sales. Americans dont want just a salad or chicken wrap as a meal, so why not add a combination meal that includes a salad, wrap, grilled chicken breast, or toasted deli sandwich with their choice of a healthy side, such as a fruit salad, yogurt, vegetables, or baked potato. B.Dont forget about our children. Moms arent just concerned about what they are putting in their mouths, their childrens health is just as important. If a mom can go to McDonalds and get a healthy meal, but there isnt anything healthy to feed her children, most likely shes going to choose a competing fast food franchise. Happy meals need to have options such as, a beef pot pie, turkey sandwich, or grilled chicken fingers.à Choices of sides could include a healthy macaroni and cheese, vegetables, fruit marshmallows, or even cottage cheese and strawberries. McDonalds could also really score some big points with parents if they added healthy lifestyle tips for kids on the happy meal sacks, or provided toys that promote exercise. ProsA.Americans love variety and choices. Thats exactly what this plan is giving McDonalds customers. Variety and healthy choices will not only satisfy current customers, but it will attract more business. B.One of McDonalds biggest customer bases is America. Providing these options for this customer base will also increase their profit intake. C.This plan also shows the people in the U.S. that McDonalds cares about their customers concerns. This is just one more way to attract business. D.Since the release of the movie Super Size Me McDonalds has been known as the fast food restaurant that makes Americans fat. The best way to improve this bad image is to implement the healthy menu options in America. ConsA.Adding more options to a menu also means adding costs for the business. It is more expensive to keep vegetables and fruits fresh than it is to keep the food they currently serve fresh. B.Even though Americans are very concerned about their health, there is a large number of people who dont want to do anything about it. People arent looking to be healthy when they go out to eat at McDonalds, and because of that, the new healthy food options may not sell as well as other well established items on the McDonalds menu. Alternative 3 Increasing WagesIncrease starting wages and implement frequent raises McDonalds has always been considered one of the worst paying jobs with the lowest skill level. Even though the working conditions are favorable, qualified workers do not want to work at McDonalds because it is embarrassing, but mainly because McDonalds does not pay theirà employees enough. We think starting salaries should be increased as an incentive to want to work for McDonalds and turn the job into a career. ProsA. More dependable employees as applicants. i. The country is experiencing a huge worker shortage, but not only a worker shortage, but qualified, dependable workers. This alternative should help remedy that situation. ii. With higher starting wages and frequent raises for the employees, there should be a less percentage turn-over rate. If the employees are happy, they wont be looking for other positions elsewhere. ConsA. This increase will cost the corporation more financially. ii. This could limit the amount available in dividends to stockholders hurting future investments. RecommendationsTechnology updateIn order to remain in competition with not only fast food restaurants, but other restaurants as well, McDonalds will have to keep up with the growing technological society. This means taking advantage of any fast food advances that pertain to their area of service. The new technology will have to keep the pace of todays fast moving society, in which time is money. A specific technology that we recommend McDonalds take advantage of is the Microsoft Surface computer tables. This technology will be costly, if implemented in metropolitan areas it will be beneficial to not only the corporation, but also to McDonalds customers. Microsoft Surface computer tables will increase the contribution margin of the corporation by saving time, money, and order errors. McDonalds should gradually begin the implementation of the Microsoft Office table in major cities throughout the globe. As McDonalds begins to reap the benefits, and work out the kinks of the tables, the corporation shouldà gradually apply this product throughout smaller restaurants. This process will be very slow moving and costly, but it is key in ensuring McDonalds continued domination in global fast food service. ConclusionsIn todays fast paces, highly technological society McDonalds has been able to stay on top of the fast food service industry, while providing quality service, and timely deliverance of food. It is not an easy task to stay on top of technologies and changing tastes of customers. McDonalds will need to continue to research the changing eating habits and styles to attract new customers and keep the business of current customers. McDonalds has proven its concerns for customers and employees by experimenting with new facilities and foods they are proving to society that they are concerned with not only their health but their prosperity. McDonalds has a very promising future ahead of them and if they continue to adapt to society and new technologies. Refrences www.mcDonalds.com

In-Depth Look at Viaggio in Ponente written by Domenico Laffi Essay exa
An In-Depth Look at Viaggio in Ponente written by Domenico Laffi Many of the gaps in the historical record of human civilization have been filled in by journals written by people about the events surrounding them. Such journals give a unique view into the life of an everyday person even in the most extreme of circumstances. An example of this is the log kept by Domenico Laffi, which he wrote as a travel guide for other pilgrims in the seventeenth century. Among the common events of river crossings and wells tucked away on high mountain peaks, Laffi writes a detailed description of cities, holy rights and the scientific and technological works he encounters during his travels. Laffi's record of his travels is very important to the understanding of how pilgrims themselves were the main means of information exchange at a time when most cities were isolated from one another. In order to put Laffi's experiences into perspective one must understand a bit about the man. Laffi was a priest in Bologna, Italy. Laffi never had his own parish, instead his passion was for traveling and he made the pilgrimage from Italy to Santiago de Compostela, Spain three times in his life. In addition to these journeys, he also made pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Lisbon. In his journal it is quickly apparent that his status as a priest gives him great advantages in education as well as the way in which he was treated, over his fellow pilgrims. An example of how differently he was treated occurs when Laffi and his companion join up with another pilgrim known only as "the Roman." The Roman is a more ordinary sort of pilgrim and must often stay in hostels with little food while Laffi and companion are entertained by Lords, Canons and other such nobility. Wh... ...oo went on pilgrimage. Laffi's journal is important both in the context of his time as well as in the context of our own. He relates his travels as a guide to his fellow pilgrims, but the guide is also rich with information that the average person of his time did not have access to. His guide is an important source of information to modern historians in recreating the past from a more personal as well as a more scientific point of view.
